Starting in 1948 after WWII an event called the Nakba occurred and sparked the bourgeoisie’s campaign of occupation and genocide upon the Palestinian people. Nakba when translated from Arabic to English means “catastrophe” and refers to the mass displacement of Palestinians during the first Zionist invasion. The initial Zionist invasion was permitted by the UN in November of 1947 when it partitioned Palestine into 2 states, one Arab and the other Jewish. This decision by the UN was protested by Arab peoples in Palestine as it violated both the UN Charter and the people’s autonomy. The Nakba was pushed by Britain, who even assigned imperial troops to aid and further campaign for the occupation of Palestine and genocide of its people that is still occurring to this day. Palestinians are one of the most, if not the most, oppressed groups in the world and the struggle for a liberated Palestine is perhaps the most important front in combatting neo-colonialism.
